KW Gewindefahrwerk verbaut in einem Honda Civic Type R

Noticeably more driving dynamics in the new Honda Civic Type R!

Honda Civic Type R - Honda's most powerful series Civic of all time!

For all Type R drivers who are looking for the ideal compromise between sportiness and suitability for everyday use, we have developed the KW coilover kit variant 3. The chassis made of stainless steel allows not only a tested lowering of up to 35 mm, but also the damper forces to be adjusted independently in the rebound and compression stages.

As a result, nothing stands in the way of an individual driving experience with a significant increase in driving dynamics in the 310 hp Civic Type R (FK2). After all, the new Type R with its 310 hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder VTEC turbo engine, crisp, short gearshift travel and a top speed of 270 km / h is one of the fastest compact athletes.

The damper design determined in numerous driving tests on the autobahn, country roads and on the KW-7-post vehicle dynamics test bench significantly improves the performance of the Type R. For example, KW's long-term partner Honda Fugel undercut in the first test of the magazine auto bild sportscars (issue no. 7 2016, page 16) with his Civic with KW coilover kit, OZ rims and Michelin Cup2 tires the lap time of the factory Honda. "The Michelin tires and the KW suspension alone make it faster," according to auto bild sportscars. The 310 hp Fugel-Civic achieved a sensational 1: 31.81 minutes on the Sachsenring (factory type R 1: 40.77 minutes).

Compared to the weaker Civic models, the differences to the new top model are serious. For example, the Honda has a stiffer body and a double-axle front suspension with two axle journals, as is also used in the Astra OPC, Focus RS or Mégane RS, which minimizes drive influences on the steering. The steering knuckle and strut are separated from each other in this axle construction in order to keep the notorious "Torque Steer" in high-torque vehicles with front-wheel drive within limits. With our Variant 3 coilover kit, the Type R becomes an even more agile sports car. Similar to the KW suspensions in motorsport, variant 3 has independent rebound and compression adjustment.

The rebound can be adjusted with 16 precise clicks using the rebound adjustment wheel at the upper end of the piston rod. Increased rebound forces ensure tighter handling and significantly less body roll. At very high speeds in the limit range of driving dynamics, the steering precision is noticeably improved, while a lower rebound stage is advantageous on uneven and wavy road surfaces.

In addition, the pressure level can be changed in the pressure level with 12 clicks for variant 3 and also for clubsport 2-way.

The twelve clicks of the pressure level also allow you to influence the tire grip, directional stability and handling properties. Variant 3 also harmonizes perfectly with driver assistance systems such as the Honda Agile Handling Assist (AHA) and electronic stability program (VSA).

Stepless lowering as part of the parts certificate

Stepless lowering of the drive axle by 15 to 35 mm can be made directly on the spring strut made of stainless steel. The rear axle can be lowered by 5 to 25 mm. The KW coilover kit variant 3 and the KW Clubspport coilover kit with its racing spring system and adjustable support bearings are now available. If the chassis is bought and installed from a certified KW specialist dealer, the end user benefits from the KW 5-year additional guarantee, which is exclusive in Germany.
