Both the adaptive KW DDC plug &play coilover suspension and the KW V3 coilover suspension, which is manually adjustable in compression and rebound, allow the Cupra Born electric car to be continuously dropped up to 45 millimeters. The control unit of the Cupra Born (K1) processes the signals from the body and wheel travel sensors to control the adaptive KW DDC plug & play coilover suspension for each wheel accordingly.
While driving, the KW DDC coilover suspension constantly adjusts its damping to the road and driving style. Depending on the circumstances for example, the electromagnetic shock absorber valves will change their characteristics and switch to firmer damping. The suspension is even adjusted during acceleration, braking, and steering. The less instability in the body structure is caused, the less the ESP has to adapt.
Alternative for Cupra Born models without DCC control: the KW V3 coilover suspension
Across all vehicle applications, our KW V3 coilover suspension became the best-selling height-adjustable sport suspension. As of now, our KW V3 is available for Cupra's first all-electric compact model. It's not only the ability to adjust the preset damper setup separately in compression and rebound that makes the KW V3 coilover so popular: Thanks to KW's multi-valve technology, the KW suspension always ensures a harmonious ride in day-to-day driving. Similar to the KW DDC plug & play coilover suspension, the KW V3 in the Cupra Born enables continuously adjustable lowering of 20 to 45 millimeters on the front and rear axles. Thanks to the lower center of gravity and more harmonious damping, the range of electric cars also benefits.
