BMW M3 Touring Competition Touring with xDrive now equipable with a KW V3 and V4 coilover kit

A few months ago, the BMW M3 Touring with all-wheel drive was launched fulfilling the wishes of many to finally offer an M3 model as a station wagon. The result was a sporty middle-class estate car with loads of power thanks to 510 HP. Even before its market launch, the vehicle convinced with a lap time of 7:35.060 minutes at the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

But not only its performance creates a true racing feeling: The look of the new BMW puts motorsport enthusiasts on cloud nine. Inspired by the DTM, the BMW M3 Touring can be optionally equipped with M Performance Parts front-end attachments and flicks made from carbon. By the way, we are an official BMW motorsport supplier and therefore official suspension partner of BMW Motorsport.

Nevertheless, the origin story of the M3 Touring isn’t an ordinary one: Engineers and BMW car enthusiasts responsible for the development sat together and thought about new possibilities for the following M3 generations. An official order as it is the case with other development cars never existed.

With the E34 and E61, there were already two Touring variants based on a 5-series BMW. However, a BMW M3 Touring kept raising the question of whether it was worth developing at all. In the end, the engineers decided on developing the M3 Touring Competition and taking the plunge into the unknown.

One of the major strengths of the M3 Touring is its driving dynamics. The built-in active M differential at the rear axle in combination with our KW V4 coilover kit leads to more stability and traction on the street. This way the vehicle can react to different driving situations and stays controllable even with high speeds and difficult street conditions.

This adaptability in handling is beneficial for the overall versatility of the BMW M3 Touring Competition. The manufacturers themselves repeatedly emphasize that the station wagon is suitable for both everyday use and family life despite its sporty high performance. Moreover, comfort is particularly important when you spend a lot of time in the car.

At KW, we offer our KW V3 and KW V4 coilover kits for the BMW M3 (G81). Both coilover kits enable a continuous lowering and offer more comfortable and sporty driving. However, both coilovers differ in their construction: Besides the lowering option of 20 to 25 millimeters at the front axle and 15 to 30 millimeters at the rear axle, the lowspeed compression and rebound of the KW V3 are separately adjustable. The KW V4 enables a slightly more specific damper adjustment: It can be adapted in highspeed compression. The result: More direct feedback when steering and less body roll in curves.

Long road trips and bad street conditions won’t be a challenge for a BMW M3 combined with our KW coilover kit: Thanks to our multi-valve technology, our stainless-steel V4 dampens street bumps reliably. Thanks to our included parts certificate (TÜV documents), the registration of our coilovers is easily possible. The interior of the BMW M3 Touring offers a driver-inclined BMW curved display, sports seats with removable headrest pads, and up to 1,500 liters of space in the trunk.
