In addition to a stepless lowering of 30 - 50 mm at the front axle and 20 - 40 mm at the drive axle, the KW coilovers significantly increase the driving dynamics of the Ford Mustang (LAE) and with our setup in suspension design, the tendency to understeer is minimized. On the facelift model, the 2018 Ford Mustang LAE (available from November 2017), the tested lowering is 20 - 40 mm at the front and 15 - 35 mm at the drive axle.

KW Coilover Kit Variant 1

The KW Variant 1 coilover kit is our entry-level model that we have developed for the Ford Mustang (LAE). It allows a maximum lowering of up to 50 mm at the front axle and up to 40 mm at the drive axle of the Mustang. The damper setup is designed sporty-harmonious, so that an optimal balance of sportiness and practicality is given. Even with fully load and maximum axle loads, the dampers work with a sporty characteristic. Compared to our other KW coilovers, the Variant 1 cannot be further adjusted in damper forces individually for a tighter handling that provides a more comfortable ride.

At first glance, the KW Variant 3 coilover kit, allows a maximum lowering of 30 - 50 mm at the front axle and 20 - 40 mm at the rear axle, just like the Variant 1. At a second glance, the front axle struts and rear axle damper housings of the Variant 3 are completely made of stainless steel. There are also even more differences between the two and are mainly in the driving dynamics details. The KW damper technology in the Variant 3 with its independent adjustment possibilities in compression stage and rebound stage enable a completely new driving experience on the road.





The rebound adjustment dial located at the top end of the piston rod, allows you to set the rebound with 16 exact clicks to be firmer or more comfortable. With a low rebound force, the comfort is increased, while with a higher rebound force, the handling is further increased and the body vibrations are reduced. This noticeably improves the steering precision even at very high-speeds.





Regardless of this, the patented KW multi-way valve allows you to set the low-speed compression level. Using the integrated click wheel directly at the damper housing bottom, the damping force can be adjusted in twelve click stages separately from the rebound, so even in extremely demanding driving maneuvers, hardly any pitching or rolling movements will occur. In addition, a higher compression level on the front axle supports a more direct steering, and on the rear axle it counteracts oversteering.

If active participation at various Trackday events on racetracks is your great passion, then you will receive the perfect performance upgrade with our two KW Clubsport coilover kits. With our KW 2-way Clubsport and 3-way Clubsport coilover kits, we consistently rely on our successful racing technology for our high-performance dampers. Other differences compared to conventional aftermarket suspensions are adjustable aluminum unibal bearings on the front axle, racing sport springs, and damper valve equipping as well as piston rods for regular race track use with semi slick tires.

The KW Clubsport coilover suspension in the Ford Mustang (LAE) ensures a more neutral handling and much more precise steering response even in the basic setup at a close to series "Mustang Tracktool". Thanks to the technical component report, you can drive to a Trackday with your street-legal Ford and change to your trackday rims with semi slick tires on site, for example. With the dampers you can quickly and easily prepare the suspension setup for the respective racetrack. The KW 3-way Clubsport kit is independently adjustable in low-speed and high-speed compression as well as in rebound stage, while at the KW 2-way Clubsport kit, the low-speed compression and rebound can be adjusted separately.





With the KW 3-way Clubsport kit you achieve a balance between longitudinal and lateral dynamics by the independent low-speed and high-speed compression adjustment. On the reservoir, the low-speed compression is adjusted with six click stages and the high-speed compression with 14 click stages via the two adjustment dials. This way, you can continue for example to influence the response of the Mustang or take into account the tire characteristics of the semi slicks. The KW 2-way Clubsport coilover kit, on the other hand, only has a low-speed compression adjustment.





Regardless of the compression setting, both KW (2-way & 3-way) Clubsport coilovers can be adjusted in rebound forces with 16 clicks each. The two-stage rebound valves allow, that at a slow damping speed, the low volume rates flow through an adjustable conical low-speed bypass and to open the main rebound valve for high flow rates at higher piston speeds (high-speed). This results in a significant increase in driving comfort without affecting the high-speed.
